The Strutt family

Elizabeth and John Strutt (youngest daughter and youngest son of George Benson and Catherina Strutt)

Elizabeth was the youngest daughter of George Benson and Catherina Strutt. She was a keen musician and devout Unitarian, like her brother John. She never married and died aged 58 in 1854.

John Strutt was the youngest son of George Benson. He formed an orchestra consisting of workers from the mills, allowing them time off work to be trained by masters in playing instruments and singing. He was greatly involved in the development and running of the Strutts’ farms.
