Derbyshire Archaeological Society

The Derbyshire Archaeological Society was founded in 1878 to encourage interest in the County’s archaeology and natural history.

For over 25 years the Derbyshire Family History Society has linked together people researching their family history in Derbyshire. The Society has an extensive library of documents which  are available to look at on their website.

Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site

Belper is a major part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. This 16 mile site runs from Masson Mills in the North to Derby Silk Mill in the south.

Strutts Community Centre

 Strutts Community Centre is home to many Belper clubs and groups including Belper Historical Society. Run by volunteers, it is a huge asset to the town.

 

Strutt's North Mill Museum

Strutt’s North Mill Museum is closed but the volunteers still offer guided historical walks which tell the story of Belper.
