Ian Castledine presented his findings on the Chevin Tower to the society in our February meeting of 2024. In the talk he offered a new theory based upon an examination of extant archaeology.

Mary Smedley Papers

Mary Smedley was Chairman of Belper Historical Society until shortly before her death in 2020.

Mary also had been the Manager of Strutt’s North Mill Museum and had carried out extensive research about Belper and its history over many years.

The society is happy to present some of her findings on these pages.
