An untitled logbook (dated 1832-1840) detailing trespass offences in Milford and the fines allocated, came into the possession of the Society in 2022.
BHS committee librarian, Jane Whitaker says: ‘’The log book was handed in at the Derbyshire Archaeological Society earlier this year when I was helping out. The DAS librarian thought it would be more appropriate to donate it to the BHS. I was so delighted with it but unfortunately I didn’t take down the donor’s details to thank him formally.
“Until a few years ago, the book had been in the possession of Bill Lomas, the motorcycle shop owner from Milford, handed down through the family, I believe. Bill Lomas wanted it to remain where it could be of interest to people of Milford. It has now been transcribed, scanned and passed on to the Derbyshire Record Office for cataloguing and conservation.’’
